Wastewater
As with all waste systems, the biggest challenge for the designer is to identify the applicable rules and regulations. General guidelines can be found in the Conservation Practice standard of the Natural Resources Conservation Service, but be prepared to spend time researching federal, state, and local environmental equirements. In most cases, these regulations will determine the general design parameters of the system such as potential crops, allowable flow, operating times, and other factors. The general system design in turn will probably lead to selection of one of the sprinkler types described below.

Big Gun® Sprinklers
The relatively large nozzle sizes can reduce the level of waste treatment or filtration required. The large throw diameters of the guns reduce the application rate under the system. Pressure of at least 50 psi at the end of the system provide optimum gun performance. Use the lowest available trajectory model to reduce susceptibility to drift and evaporate.

3000 Series Pivot Products (i.e. T3000 Trash buster) Mounting sprinklers lower can help reduce the effect of wind, and this can be especially advantageous for waste application systems. The T3000 Trash buster with the 3000FC nozzle is less susceptible to nozzle plugging and trash build up than any other pivot sprinkler.

Rotator™ Sprinklers on a Poly-2000 Portable System The advent of poly-tube technology has created the opportunity to use a flat tube-style lateral to supply water to Rotator Sprinklers. Some real benefits include the thin-wall, high strength tube and easy handling of the lightweight, compact reels. This irrigation system includes the valve and lateral hookup, the lateral and the feetube for mounting the Rotator, and a sequencing valve to operate selected laterals which minimizes lateral size. (Caution: Wastewater containing a lot of fibrous or stringy material may not be ideal for the R2000 sprinkler. Use large sprinklers.)
